FOR SALE BY OWNER
The Vance Miles House is over 100 years old,
and located in the small town of Marion Station, Maryland in Somerset
County. This Victorian house was designed in a Queen Anne Style
and has an historic integrity unparalleled in Marion Station.
Only three families have occupied this house - two
of them for over fifty years each. Previous owners kept the
house in good shape without marring the integrity of original
moldings, flooring, plaster and roof.
This house the only house in Somerset to retain its
original "curved porch" railings. Slate roof is in good shape
and the landscape displays trees and perennials that date to the
building of the house at the turn of the twentieth century.
IMPROVEMENTS MADE
In the sixties, the second family to own the home
did major renovations to update the house. New plumbing and
electrical were carefully added. A concrete floor was put down
across the entire basement and a pole barn was added in the rear of
the house.
Eventually storm window were added, aluminum siding,
and a second full bathroom.
The current owners have added new appliances
(washer, dryer, stove, dishwasher), restored the kitchen cabinets and
the original wood floor in the kitchen. They have also done
extensive landscaping and added over $10,000 of plant material to the
yard.
